  Annual Awards Dinner

And the winners are...

At the annual dinner this year awards were given for 6 new categories in addition to the Presidents trophy for the best film which was awarded to Jim Walker for his fiction film 'Dead'.





 

  John Allen Trophy
  24th November 2010


Bradford finally won the 'John Allen Trophy' at Branwell House Thornton this year with Allan Vanston's film 'Pou du Fou'.

  Harry Nicholls showed a selection of his cine films on his Elmo projector including footage from the eighties of Leeds, Heidelberg and London.

 Steve Haddock gave a very informative and interesting evening showing the different effects of lighting and some of the very interesting requirements in the planning etc of Tv organisation.

Ian Dewhirst Night - 16th March 2009

The cinema was filled with laughter as Dr Dewhurst recounted the antics of our Victorian ancestors in their leisure time. His tales of the baloonists and cyclists over a century ago, taken from records in Keighley library, were hilarious. Here he is (on the right) with our President, Jim Walker. Thank you for a really good night.

Allan Vanston at Doncaster

3rd April 2008. Allan Vanston took his films for a showing at Doncaster MovieMakers. His films were very well received and appreciated. The photo shows Allan with Val Moat, Doncaster Chairperson, and other members of the club at the start of his show.

L'Institute Zoom

A very special night with quirky fictional film makers Bob Lorrimer and David Hackney from Huddersfield. Their widescreen high definition movies were short but stunning.

The films were watched by an enthusiastic audience and included some real gems. Bob's "The Trap" being one of the best. Thank you Bob and Dave. Please come again.


Sid & Doris at Bradford

26th November 2007. A great evening of our friends Sid & Doris Lythe with their superb performance of old & new films. Their "Night to Remember" certainly made the evening a night to remember.

Public Show 2007

All the winners from the club competition since April last year were given an airing to a very enthusiastic audience at our club on Tuesday 24th April 2007. Raffle prizes and home made cakes, tea & coffee were in plentiful supply.

Our picture shows our secretary, Jackie Jones with two of our members, Mary Nicholls and Colin Egglestone delivering the goods.


Les Standhaven

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of Les Standhaven aged 84. Les, a reliable member of the Bradford Club for many years, was a well respected film maker.

The funeral was on Thursday 18th January at 12.40pm at Nab Wood Crematorium. A large proportion of our members and ex-members attended.


Change to the syllabus.

Please note that there is a change to the printed syllabus for 2006/7. The "Film to a Record" competition will now be held 2nd April 2007.

The visit of Phase 4(Carol & Ken Wilson)will now be on 15th January 2007. Please amend your own syllabus.


Public Show - 2006

We had a very good audience at our Annual Public Show. The films were quite varied and included winners from all categories. The show ended with our newest member who won the Annual competition with his excellent drama "The Chair".

CHRISTMAS PARTY 2005

Once again Jack & Norma Yorke ran the club Christmas Party. Games were played, prizes were won and food & drinks a-plenty were consumed. The first showing of Jack's "Twice Nightly" was enjoyed by all.

Bradford goes WideScreen

The club proudly showed off their new 8' x 4'6 Widescreen today Monday 3rd October 2005.

Bradford City Hall

On Wednesday 9th February 2005 the members were invited to tour City Hall. Cameras were allowed and a few of the enthusiasts filmed away. The visit took an hour and was quite an eye opener.

Binnie Baker at our club

On Monday 8th November 2004 the club were delighted to have secured the services of Binnie Baker, presenter of "The Way We Were" on Yorkshire TV.

Mrs Baker gave an excellent presentation on the history of film in Yorkshire and included rare footage from over 100 years ago. This, although she was full of cold, was one of the best club nights so far.


Public Show Success

A crowded Club Cinema were well entertained on Tuesday 20th April 2004 with the Annual Public Show. A variety of members own prizewinning films were shown culminating in Alan Vanston's excellent film of the year "The Tower".

Blue Screen Studio

The blue screen area at the club is almost completed. Members saw it in its finished state on Monday 15th March 2004. Film taken in front of the blue has been transposed on to shots of Manningham Park.

Film Lab North

On October 13th 2003 the club were invited to Film Lab North where Peter Wright, the manager (on the right of the picture), showed the procedures undertaken by his plant as they process film for programmes such as Frost. Even NASA, the U.S Space Agency, brought their films to be developed at his laboratory.

Adobe Evening

On the 15th December 2003 Bradford Camcorder Users Group were given a treat.

Kevin O'Neill from Adobe Products gave our members and friends from Leeds Moviemakers and Mercury movies a very interesting talk and demonstration of Adobe's latest editing Program, Premiere Pro.

You could hear a pin drop as he kept every one of the members absorbed in his subject. We made sure that the powers that be at Adobe were told of the appreciation we had for his advice and knowledge.


Imax Evening

On the 3rd November 2003 Members of Bradford Camcorder Users Group were invited by The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television to "An Evening with Tony Cutts at the IMAX".

The evening proved to be one of the best nights of the Club's year. Tony Cutts (a member of our group) was on top form with his knowledge of the history of the cinema from the 'fleapits' of the 1940s to the Multiplexes, 3D and IMAX cinemas of today.


Group Films 2003

Three Groups were picked out to make a movie using 6 items suggested by members. The items were Children: Loft ladder: Sunglasses: Pincers: Juice maker: Vacuum cleaner.
